If the individual is not found, our report will detail the various steps we took to discover the information you needed with suggestions of what you can do next to further your research.
What You Can Learn from Information in the U.S. Census
Things you can learn from finding the name of an ancestor or relative in the U.S.Census:
Age and Place of Birth Race Maiden Name Names of Parents and Siblings (brothers & sisters) Places of Birth of Parents (1880-1930 censuses) Places of Residence Occupation Relationships in the Family (1880-1930) Ownership of Property Wealth Illness or Physical Condition Date of Emigration (1900-1930) Date of Naturalization (1900-1930)
The Censuses are complete every ten years for most states from 1790 through 1930. The 1890 census, however, was almost completely destroyed except for a few fragments and the Schedule of Civil War Veterans and their Widows. This makes research between 1880 and 1900 quite difficult for most American families.
